Grounds for Appeal

Square footage calculation error that changes the fee assessment rate category.

A $100 land fee was assessed in error for the PIN.

Incorrect owner as of July 1, 2023, on the invoice. Closing documents with owner(s) names as of July 1, 2023, will be required at the appeal hearing.

Property not located in Chatham Emergency Services fire district. The appeal hearing will require proof of subscription with the appropriate fire service.

Explanation of Appeal - 500 word maximum

NOTICE: Appeals will be reviewed by Chatham County for the appropriateness of option selection. Chatham County reserves the right to reject an appeal that does not meet one of the conditions of the appeal.

Payment due dates for appeals will be held until the appeal has been resolved. Payments will be due 30 days from the appeals notice date. Invoices not paid by the due date will be considered past due and assessed at $25 or 10% of the adjusted invoice amount, whichever is greater, and will be subject to all legal actions.

Disagreement with being assessed a fire service fee when the property is within the CES fire service area is not an appealable option.
